Inquirer’s Class Starting in March

New to GCC and Want to Know More? The Inquirer’s Class is an important part of the process of becoming a member of GCC. It is the first step toward learning about what makes GCC a wonderfully unique church in our denomination and in our city. The class will begin on Sunday, March 23rd, and take place over five weeks, meeting at the church from 5:00PM – 7:00PM. We will share a meal, hear from our various ministry teams, and go deep into what it means to be a member of GCC.

Children’s Message Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to teach the Children’s Message during the sermon. This is the time when we dismiss our 3 year-olds through Pre-K children from our service to read a bible story and do an activity. No prep is needed ahead of time and all the supplies are provided. You just have to be willing to love our little ones in this way. If you have any questions, please contact Karla Himebook. Click the button below to go to the sign-up genius page to volunteer. There are still several open slots.

Psalms of Ascent Sermon Series Coming in March

We are wrapping up our series in the Letters of John. On March 9th the plan is to switch to a short series covering four “Psalms of Ascent.” We will be looking at Psalms 120 - 123. Tradition tells us that these were songs sung by God’s people as they ascended to Jerusalem and the temple to worship the Lord. They are a diverse and wonderful collection of songs for the worshipping people of God. I invite you to read ahead and meditate on them as we prepare to hear them preached. - Ashley

New Adult Sunday School Classes

Two new adult Sunday School Classes have started. We are offering a study of the book of Hebrews and a topical class we are calling “Let the Children Worship.” For more details on these two classes visit. www.GCCMemphis.com/AdultEd.

Hebrews Bible Study (Meeting in the Fellowship Hall) The book of Hebrews stands apart from other biblical books in its theologically unique portrait of Jesus Christ as the supreme revelation of God - a portrait bolstered by the author's skilled use of imagery, metaphor, and Old Testament analogy. Come be enriched by this study.

Let the Children Worship (Meeting in the Sanctuary) Being a parent with kids in the pews during worship can be a challenge, but it’s worth the effort. We want to look at why it’s important for all our members to be actively encouraging our children as they learn how to worship.

GCC Youth Orchestra

We are so excited to have Mr. Andrew Cook starting up the GCC Youth Orchestra. This will be an ensemble that meets select Wednesday nights before youth group from 5:50-6:20pm, and aims to present an original hymn arrangement written to meet each musician at their skill level. Rehearsals for our first anthem begin on February 12th, and the anthem will be presented on Sunday, March 2nd.

GCC Children’s Choir

Get your kids ready to sing! Rehearsals will take place on 3/09, 3/23, 3/30, & 4/06. On April 13th, they will be presenting an anthem in our Palm Sunday worship service. For more information, please contact our music director, Philip Himebook.

Wanted: Choir Members

Wednesday’s 7:30 - 8:30 PM, Come make a joyful noise to the Lord with us. Rehersals have resumed but it’s never too late to jump in. Singing in the choir is a great way to lead and encourage your church family in worship. Give it a shot, even if you’ve never sung in a choir before. Caution! Participation may cause excessive joy!

Wednesday Evening Activities at GCC:

  • Women’s Bible Study – 6:15 PM

  • Youth Group – 6:30 PM

  • Choir Rehearsal – 7:30 PM

Weekly Prayer Time at 9AM, Sundays

Pray for One Another

We pray for one another because we are connected in an authentic community of faith. Each day this week, take a moment to pray for some of the people God has planted in our community. Thank God for calling them to be members of our church family. Pray for His help and provision for their needs. Ask Him to encourage and grow them in their faith. If you have an opportunity, take a moment and send them a word of encouragement this week.
